White teeth
Hey guys, whats up? Welcome to my dentistry blog. I will try to provide you with basic information on how to keep your teeth healthy for many years to come. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a dentistry student currently studying at university in London, UK. I am also working part time as a dentist assistant to build up my CV.
I find that many people who come to the dentist ask questions that can easily be answered without visiting your local dentist. That is the idea with this blog. Hopefully this simple FAQ below will help you understand how to keep your teeth healthy and white.
FAQ
1. My teeth are yellow what can I do about this?
A lot of the time clients who come in to whiten there teeth, only need to do so because there diet is not in check. Cut back on products high in caffeine and sugar such as tea and coffee. These can leave a yellow stain on your teeth that can be extremely hard to get rid of. Also if you are a smoker try to cut back as much as possible. Studies have shown smoking not only cause yellow teeth but are a major cause of bad breath.
2. A cavity has formed. What should I do?
When a cavity has formed, it is important to make an emergency appointment with your dentist. Delaying this can cause the teeth to crumble further. This can eventually lead to a root canal or having the tooth pulled completely.
3. How to get white teeth?
There are many things you can use to help you get whiter teeth. To start with, brush your teeth twice a day with a decent toothpaste such as Sensodyne or Colgate. You should be brushing once in the morning and once in the evening before bed. Drink plenty of water instead of drinks high in caffeine like soda and coffee. You should begin to notice a difference after a couple of weeks. If you want to take it a step further why not try tooth bleaching kits and whitening strips. Both pack a punch in getting your teeth white.
4. How to prevent bad breath?
To get rid of bad breath, first begin by brushing your teeth twice a day with a strong toothpaste that your dentist recommends. Colgate will usually be a good one to use. However what a lot of people fail to do is clean the bacteria and excess food off your tongue. That gunk on your tongue is the number one cause of bad breath so make sure you brush your tongue. I also advise using a strong mouthwash, not only will this prevent bad breath but also kill off bacteria and prevent ulcers from forming. What you eat also play a major part in getting bad breath. If you are going on a date and you have eaten garlic make sure you use a mouthwash before going out. Trust me, I have made that mistake, even if you can smell it yourself, your date will.
I will update this FAQ with new questions as soon as I get round to it. I am quite a busy person so stay tuned for more updates. Until then keep your teeth clean and healthy!
